The container styles of two different perfumes in a type of container, and the quality of the perfume.

What were the quasi-independent variables in this experiment?

The perfume bottles' relative 'attractiveness' and scent although quantified, is still somewhat subjective and dependent upon another experiment outside of the controlled environment of the study.

The less attractively smelling perfume in the more attractive bottle were observed by the researchers.
How internally valid do you think this experiment was? Explain your answer.

If one accepts the assumptions of the experiment, namely that the individuals were classified correctly in terms of degree of self-monitoring, and the perfume bottles and scent were correctly assessed as to attractiveness and quality of scent the study was internally valid.

How externally valid do you think this experiment was? Explain your answer.

Externally valid is a more problematic question, because the study relies upon the validity of numerous other tests, including the Self-Monitoring inventor and the other experiments that created the classifications of packaging attractiveness and product quality.
